WHAT THIS IS:

This is a for real, honest, all-digital transfer of film to DVD made on a Rank/Cintel C-Reality Film Scanner. (See photo below.) Image stabilization, grain reduction and scratch reduction techniques were used. The digital film transfer was enhanced using Digital Vision's DVR-1000 Noise Reducer and Pogle Platinum color correction software to ensure overall black and white tonality. The film was cleaned prior to being transferred. The soundtrack was restored and noise reduced. The result is the best quality copy of this serial that has ever been made available!

Each of the serial's 15 chapters is accessible from the main menu pictured above. You can even go to individual scenes within each chapter! The original theatrical trailer for "Gang Busters", one of the all time great serials, is also included! As a bonus, there is an OPTIONAL commentary track featuring four knowledgeable serial fans giving observations and sometimes humorous insight into every chapter!

THE STORY:

This hard-boiled serial starts at a frantic pace as gangsters try to outrace hawk-faced mob smasher and secret service man Jack Holt on the highway ("Step on it! The police are on our tail!") and the tough talk and action never stop from there. Counterfeiters Tris Coffin and gang are operating a counterfeiting scheme from their cliffside hideout, down the rapids and past a roaring waterfall. Holt and his boss Malloy decide to try to pass Holt off as wanted felon Nick Farrell to infiltrate the gang. Equally tough-talking ("Want me to weep in a bucket?") Miss Drew poses as his wife ("Not moll -- wife, and don't you forget it. Want to see the certificate?") and fights beside Jack to defeat the gangsters' schemes.
